We invest with a three to five year horizon, considering both macro and micro economic trends. We diversify our portfolios based on a client’s specific needs for current income and capital gains using the following asset classes:

  • Fixed-Income Investments - We favor high-grade debt securities (AA or better) in U.S. Government, U.S. Government Agency, foreign, corporate and tax-exempt bonds. The average maturity is 6 years or less.
  • Domestic and International Equities - We invest in mid-cap and large-cap equities having over $1 billon in market capitalization. We seek well-financed concerns with above average prospects and superior management, and emphasize strong balance sheets, growing cash flows and dividends. We use ETFs and index funds to invest in sectors or regions where we see opportunity, but do not have the means or proficiency to select individual securities.
  • Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) – We use REITs in most portfolios to provide a combination of income, growth and decreased volatility. As an asset class, REITs have a low correlation with the stock and bond markets, and have offered significant appreciation over time.
  • Private Investments – We invest in real estate, private equity, venture capital and natural resources (oil & gas and timber). For these private investments we have a thorough and stringent process of selecting best-in-class managers. We do not recommend private investments for all clients.
